I don't know what went wrong for you, I am unable to reproduce this
problem.  The lack of documentation for logfile option will be remedied
in the next release.  If you run "sudo -L" you will see a list of
all possible run-time options allong with a short description.  If you
run "sudo -V" as root you will see the compiled in defaults, which
you may override from sudoers.
