Default Timeout before being prompted for account password

After initially logging into a host and running a command via sudo I get
prompted for my account password.  For subsequent commands I run, I do not.
My question revolves around whether there is some default interval upon when
it expires that I would be prompted for my password again or some sort of
idle time before being prompted, etc.
