[sudo-users] Password doesn't work

About a month ago, I changed my root password. After I changed the
root password, neither the old nor the new password would work with
sudo. One thing I did was using visudo to make it so that I could use
sudo without entering a password, and that worked. I also tried
uninstalling and re-installing sudo, but, if I had the config file set
to ask for the root password, it still wouldn't work. Does anybody
have any idea why it's not working?
