Sudo 1.6.9 is going to be the next release, out this coming Monday
or Tuesday.  Sudo 1.7 is the current development version, there
will be an alpha release shortly after the release of 1.6.9.

I have ideas for sudo 2.0 and a design I did several years ago, but
I'l probably redo the design by the time development starts on it,
which probably won't be for a while.
