[sudo-users] sudo and NIS problems

I have a customer who is using SuSE Enterprise Linux 10 SP1. They have NIS running and receive the following error when trying to run sudo as a NIS user:

user at localhost:/lib/security> sudo ls
user's password:
Permissions on the password database may be too restrictive.

The relevant sudoers info:

sudoers:
root ALL=(ALL) ALL
User_Alias GENG_UNIX = +geng_unix
GENG_UNIX ALL=(ALL) ALL

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks,
John
