You are right, Todd.
gzip binary is actually a symlink to /usr/opt/freeware/bin/gzip and then 
/usr/opt/freeware is another symlink to /opt/freeware.

If otheris AIX users agree, IMHO /opt/freeware is a good place to locate 
sudo files and then symlink the binaries.
