[sudo-users] sudo fails to take password input from user on AIX 6.1

Just to add to the below... I have an older version of sudo (1.6.9p8) which
works without any issues on the same machine, but a switch to 1.8.3p1 does
not seem like going good.
I had experienced the same issues with 1.8.1 as well.
I am bit confused on how to proceed further .. Please advice..
