[sudo-users] sudo1.8.1p2 make install error on HPUX

I am using  a HPUX 11.11 hppa machine for compiling SUDO 1.8.1p2.
The configure and make stage passes without issues. But the make install
stage fails with the below error.

/bin/sh ../../install-sh -c -b~ -O 0 -G 0 -M 0755
.libs/sudoers.sl/opt/soe/local/sudo-1.8.1/libexec
cp: cannot access .libs/sudoers.sl: No such file or directory.

The configure options that I used were

./configure --prefix=/opt/soe/local/sudo-1.8.1
--exec-prefix=/opt/soe/local/sudo-1.8.1 --sysconfdir=/opt/soe/local/etc \
--with-pam --with-timedir=/var/run/sudo --with-CC=gcc --with-ldap

Can someone please help me resolve this.
