SUDO env vars?

Hi folks,
	we have recently deployed version 1.6.3 of sudo on our solaris LAN:

bandon% sudo -V
Sudo version 1.6.3p5

When we telnet into a solaris platform, we are discovering that various SUDO
env variables are setup:

bandon% env | grep SUDO
SUDO_GID=101
SUDO_UID=100
SUDO_COMMAND=/etc/init.d/inetsvc start
SUDO_USER=everling

Despite not having run a sudo cmd - check /etc/.profile and $HOME/.profile
....? Any ideas why? When we use our NT emulation to launch an extem on the
same machine the env vars are NOT set - as expected:

bandon% env | grep SUDO
bandon%

Any ideas would be appreciated.
