Actually, more accurately... newer versions of Solaris (8+) uses BOTH
the EDITOR and VISUAL variables and VISUAL is preferred over EDITOR (in
the case of both being set).  The editor defaults to ed.

Though I no longer have a Solaris 7 box to check, Solaris 2.5.1/2.6 use
EDITOR... I assume (and seem to recall) "VISUAL" was added in Solaris 7.

And Solaris 10 now claims to be EDITOR only, but the default editor is
now vi rather than ed (though I only have 10.1 machines to check).
